Re-Create and Recreate

The Cities of Covington and Maple Valley are using a Washington State grant to conduct a feasibility study this winter to understand and plan for future indoor recreation in our area.  The Citizen Steering Committee and the professional planning team have been hard at work over the past few months and are excited to arrive at community findings, with you, regarding location options and possible facility offerings.

Current Opportunity:

The team is completing virtual focus session designed to hear about stakeholders’ specific interests and concerns regarding a potential Aquatic/Recreation Center. Contact to get your organization’s input recorded.

Questions raised in the Focus Sessions are largely about your interest in a new center, such as:

  • What specific components should be included in a center in this area?
  • How often would you use the facility if it offered your desired components?
  • What are you willing to pay for in a recreation center? What is a reasonable cost and what is not?
  • Would you willing to increase taxes to pay for the construction and operation of a public facility?

A summary of the focus sessions will be shared at the public workshop (date to be announced, planned for mid April)

Recordings of the public events can be found on the Facebook accounts for both cities while video links summaries are provided at :
